Do you make time to ask yourself what you need? Do you create space to listen? Do you take action from that space?
If you’ve slowed down over the summer, maybe you’ve even taken August out of your business, you may well be feeling an urgent pull to get back to it and the need to catch up and push through. And in doing so it can all feel too much…this is when the overwhelm can start to kick in and you fall into a spiral.
Feel familiar?

When you enter this space this is when things start to slip and you can end up stuck without a clear direction for moving forward. And each day can feel like a repeat of the last as you desperately try to work out the ‘right’ next step.
I for sure slowed down and was less present in my business over the summer. I could feel my body crying out for rest, in need of some down time. I’d been putting in a lot of hours and it was time to take my foot off the pedal and give myself what I needed. And I’m so glad I did.
I stopped setting my alarm and I didn’t do all my usual morning practices. I checked in with myself every day and asked myself what I needed and listened to what came up. What was interesting was that by the end of the 6 week summer holidays my body was asking me to get back to my usual morning routine. And so I did.

What’s different in how I’ve come back is I haven’t felt the need to push through. I’m still checking in with myself and asking myself what I need and most of the time I’m listening. It’s a practice and one I’m getting better and better at the more I give it a chance to embed and the more I notice the impact it has on how I feel.
So if you’re finding yourself in the struggle, caught up in what you ‘should’ be doing and unclear about your next step start with these 3 things:
- Listen to your body.
- Trust your intuition.
- Be intentional with your time.

And notice how that feels. The more we check in with ourselves the easier it is for us to recognise when our energy is off or something doesn’t feel right.
